Why I Read The Bible Every Day

Tolkien’s “Lord of the Rings” series was originally intended to be one huge book but because it would have been larger than The Bible, publishers chose to split it into three separate volumes.

So, you want to know why I read a little bit from The Bible every day. It’s simple… Actually, that’s not true. This is quite complex. Let me explain.

First, let’s start with the story of how I acquired the first Bible of my own. I was twenty-two, riding around my hometown on a bicycle. It was that time in my life when I was really trying to see what the world could offer, really engaging with my physical surroundings, in order that I might discover what the world had to offer.

Anyway, I had ridden my bike over to the flea market on Columbus Avenue. (I live in Bay City, Michigan.) This is a half-block segment of property that is almost entirely covered by an enormous pavilion. At the end closest to Columbus, I saw a display of books. So, naturally, I had to stop and see if there was anything good.

Now, I had thought that there was something to be said about this whole religion thing. I knew there were different religions in different parts of the world and that a great many people abided by the teachings of some divinity whether that be Buddhism, Hinduism, Judaism, or Christianity. It seemed that the promise of these faiths was quite literally, to be a good person.

So, when I found a Bible in the display of books, I asked the seller, “How much for this Bible?”
