The Case “For” and “Against” Going to College
It’s a big choice.
I understand financial constraints keep many intelligent people from going to college. However, there are options for people who are motivated to learn a specific skill. For the length of this article, I’ll be talking about going to college to get a degree in Creative Writing.
These options I mentioned earlier… I was talking about things like online schooling or community colleges. While online schooling is available to people who live in rural areas, my experiences with only community college are going to limit the conversation here. Nonetheless, I have had great experiences with community college.
Classes at community college are maybe 300–600 dollars each and they put you in an environment where learning is mixed with hands-on activity. Maybe you have noticed that feeling of focus you get when you are at work, and you are used to the job. Some people love this feeling. If you are one of them, then that’s a sign that college classes would help you learn a lot quickly.
That said, there are times when you will not agree with the instructors. They might give a busywork assignment or something else that just seems stupid.
