Summer Declining, Reflection

A Poem by Sam Grackle

Overcast skies
cool breeze
coming off
the mirror
of memory.

This year, passing
I’m still alive
and here
in this descent
to winter lack
of daylight.

No trouble
I recall
from days
of suffering —

Only highlights
on a painting
of my past
and knowing
I have walked
the path
a little longer.

Thank you for reading.
