Why Skateboarding Is An Olympic Sport Now
Though I am loathe to say that skateboarding is a true “sport”, I am saying that for the purposes of your own enlightenment.
I will always say that skateboarding is more of a lifestyle than a sport. It was my childhood and I still love it to this day. Yes, I’m biased, without a doubt, but at least I understand it more than most people. That is why I have made a point of dismissing the naysayers here.
If you look at the photo above and can honestly say you can do that, you best damn follow me and start writing your own articles about skating. I’m all alone here! We skaters gotta stick together!
Many people call it an “extreme sport” due mostly to the fact that serious injuries can and do happen. My long-time skating buddy broke several bones (including his jaw). I know for a fact that “extreme” fits the fuse. The X-Games have been around for a while now but that’s only in America. It’s about time that the sport is recognized as a worldwide phenomenon.
There is a tremendous amount of technical skill that goes into skateboarding.
