Haven’t you heard of the Runner’s High?
Trust me, it’s a thing.
Exercising is a special kind of pain that your body loves. Your brain loves it, too. So long as you withstand the pain half of the equation.
Exercise Ecstasy
Have you ever felt anxious after going for a run? No. Have you ever felt depressed after a good workout? No. Have you noticed that any vigorous movement brings about that sense of peace and undeniable calm? I’m sure you have.
This is because exercise causes our bodies to make chemicals called endorphins. Endorphins literally kill pain, both physical and mental. They are painkillers that exist in our body for our own happiness and well-being.
If I run around my block as fast as I possibly can, my blood pressure will spike. That’s your body trying to push as much oxygenated blood as possible into your cells. Soon afterwards though, it falls back to normal. But, your body doesn’t forget that easily. It prepares itself for you to pull that stunt again by increasing your blood’s capacity for oxygen. This in turn makes your blood pressure lower when you are not exercising.
Anti-Gravity
Gravity is a heartless b****. But think of the following next time you wonder if you should work out or not.
