America is Great Because We Were Born Free

There is no better place to be raised.

The Land of the Free, they say, and it’s true.

Think of all the Communist nations out east. They don’t have freedom. People who live there can never really be independent. At least not financially.

And further nations that are so poor that life is reduced to the barest necessities, a constant struggle against the raw elements of living so close to the earth. Someone said to me once, Americans do not know real poverty.

I don’t mean to disparage anyone. People who live in those places have just as much a chance at the good life as anyone else. Furthermore, at the center of every one of those people’s being, is a human heart and mind and soul. In that way, we are all the same.

America is great.

I grew up here in “the States”, particularly Michigan, where we have four seasons. We get a bit of everything here. Winters are cold and snowy while summers glow with the heat and sunshine of Northern California. Michigan, the Great Lakes State, has not only the Great Lakes all around, but also many more lakes and rivers and waterfalls found inland. People here love the water — swimming, ice-skating, fishing (all year round), maybe sailing or riding jet-skis, etc.
