Trigger Warning: Suicide Ideation

A blue light poured in through the windows and filled the room regardless of angles light would not normally penetrate. Just a few minutes ago, he was there, rolling around the bed, half naked. Now, eyes wide with awe, he tried to imagine what science was involved here. The question remained open, open-ended, as a horrifying wonder ruled his mind. His bowels emptied at once, a thick black liquid dripping from his body as he passed through the membrane of the ceiling, the roof, and finally, the entrance of the saucer.

Three days later, he was loading a revolver in the basement of his apartment when a detail from the void in his memory returned. He remembered that he had been eerily still on a smooth firm table. Not cold or uncomfortable, but completely unable to move. He saw nothing at this time, but instead tried to move: a hand or a foot, or to sit upright. He could not. A certain glow moved slowly around the area of his stomach, like suddenly every cell was alive and writhing and somehow, he could feel these tiny, microscopic movements.

He put the gun down. Life was absurd, meaningless. He had not been back to work since that night. There was a lot of change coming all at once. His phone still worked. This seemed to him a miracle. He imagined that homeless people…
