Such a symbol are swans
who choose one lover
to call close forever.

The snakes are deathly quiet.

The earth, our planet
is not the center of the universe, rather
it revolves, like the others, around light —
light too bright to look at.

What are you Luna, a light in the dark?
That we might never be alone.

What is mankind,
with our art and fury and metal and song?
What are we, so longing for more,
and never it is never enough.

I wrote this while thinking about the beginnings of the world. Where did all of this magic come from? I began to think that Nature itself has a kind of intelligence that compels it toward change and adaptation. Apparently everything came from the primordial soup. But how could that pool of bacteria and germs turn into all of this? It’s a poem about the wonder of the world and how it came to be.
